KENYA SHUTS DOWN SOMALI LINKED TRANSFER FIRMS AFTER AL SHABAB ATTACK


Kenya's Interior Minister, Joseph Nkaissery has told BBC that the government has ordered the closure of 13 money transfer firms. This he says is to prevent militant islamists who are financing attacks through them.

Also 85 individuals and 'entities' bank accounts have been frozen. This 85 were however given 24 hours to explain why their bank accounts should not be closed.
Somali linked bus company and hotel were also targeted.

Dahabshilla a leading money transfer firm is one of the firms shut down.
Mohammed Kuno a former islamic teacher and alleged mastermind of Garissa attack is wanted and a reward of $215,000 has been offered for his arrest.

Kenyan officials have accused Somalis in the country of conspiring with Al Shabab militants, however most Somalis say they are law abiding citizens and have borne the brunt of Al Shabab insurgency.
